Because Cumberland Island is designated a National Seashore, on Georgia’s largest and southernmost barrier island- this pristine gem is preserved and protected from development, for the benefit of all. The daily visitor rate is limited, ensuring a tranquil setting for the island’s population of wild horses, deer, bobcat, boar, turkeys, armadillos, birds and occasional humans. The private property includes more than 200 acres of unspoiled land, spanning the island from the marshland to the west, all the way to the Atlantic Ocean on the east.

During your romantic getaway or honeymoon getaway, you can spend your days birding (over 300 species appear during the course of a year), swimming, biking, hiking, kayaking and fishing, or simply stroll our immaculate, white sand beach while savoring unparalleled privacy.

The only way to get to this special place is by the famous Lucy Ferguson Ferry seen above.

A LUXURY ROMANTIC HOTEL ON THE GEORGIA COAST’S GOLDEN ISLES

A grand and graceful mansion located on Georgia’s Golden Isles on the state’s southernmost coastal island, Cumberland Island. Cumberland Island was the 19th century retreat of Thomas and Lucy Carnegie who, in 1900, built Greyfield for their daughter, Margaret Ricketson. Converted to an inn during 1962 by her daughter, Lucy R. Ferguson, and family – who oversee the daily operation – Greyfield Inn exudes the welcoming atmosphere and charm of a family home.

The famous Greyfield, where John F. Kenedy and Jackie tied the knot, is furnished with original family heirlooms, along with contemporary amenities, that provide the perfect setting for a very special getaway vacation.

Each morning the guests begin their day with a full and satisfying breakfast, which includes fresh-squeezed orange juice, fruit, eggs or pancakes or one of the Chef’s culinary specialties.

As guests enjoy their day’s explorations within the Cumberland Island National Seashore, they provide a full picnic lunch, so that the Cumberland experience can be enjoyed to the fullest, without interrupting the day with the formality of dining inside.
